Withdrawal of Application for Environmental Authorisation: Basic Assessment for the proposed development of a Salmon Aquaculture facility in Betty's Bay
Dear I&AP,
Nature Works Environmental Consultancy (Pty) Ltd on behalf of West Coast Salmon, hereby withdraws the application for Environmental Authorization for the proposed development of Salmon Aquaculture facility in Betty’s Bay as a more suitable and less environmentally sensitive site has been identified.
The public meeting set for the 15th has been cancelled as a result. Please feel free to contact me for any further information. Thank you for your comments and participation.

Dear registered interested and affected party,
Please join Nature Works on the 15th of January at the Crassula Community hall in Betty’s Bay for the proposed West Coast Salmon Aquaculture Facility public meeting. We will discuss the Environmental Authorization process and give the engineers involved an opportunity to present information regarding the proposed facility.
There will be an opportunity for questions to be asked, so please feel free to highlight any concerns you might have on the day.

I reached out to one of the world experts on salmon farming (Dr Alexandra Morton) based in BC Canada to ask her opinion of the potential impact which as you can see is potentially extremely alarming. I have personally worked as a professional aquaculturalist and I can not agree more that the leak into the wild environment of exotic pathogens is inevitable and is merely a question of ‘when’ not ‘if’.
