As you are all aware the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on many in our community who have through no fault of their own been placed in an unenviable position in trying to provide for themselves and their families with little or no income.

Up to now we have received some generous donations from members of the BBRA which has allowed us to alleviate the position in which the needy find themselves.

We have used these funds in the following manner:

  1. We have identified members of the community in Betty's Bay who are in need of assistance and provide them with food parcels. At the moment 25 families are beneficiaries but as you will appreciate this number is growing.
  2. A food kitchen has been set up in Mooiuitsig to provide nourishment to the needy. This kitchen obtains basic supplies from the Overstrand Municipality and a mid day meal is supplied with porridge at breakfast time. We have found that these basic ingredients need to be supplemented and we therefore supply some additional ingredients for this purpose.

We have calculated that our weekly needs to carry on this program amounts to R4,200-00 and of course are not aware of how long this assistance will be required.

In the light of the above we would appreciate any donation you feel you would like to make towards this program.

Deposits can be made to the following account:

Betty's Bay Ratepayers Association
ABSA Hermanus
Cheque Account 4066616439
Ref. Surname & Covid-19

The co-ordination of this relief effort is done by Wayne Jackson a retired Navy Chef, and the current head of the Neighbourhood Watch in Betty's Bay.

Thanking you in anticipation,
Be Safe,
