ESKOM POWER FAILURES - REPORT FAULTS TO CHATBOT ALFRED

Eskom directly supplied customers in Betty's Bay, Pringle Bay, Rooiels, Fisherhaven, Vermont, Onrus, Hemel-en-Aarde and certain areas between Die Damme and Hermanus; be sure to download this app.

Eskom has introduced a new chatbot named Alfred in the MyEskom customer app that allows users to report electricity supply issues.

Chatbots are computer programs that automatically answer basic user questions.

You can also access your chatbot online at the following website: https://alfred.eskom.co.za/chatroom/

Note: In order for you to register and use this App your cell phone number must be up to date on Eskom Systems.

For any technical problems with regards to the MyEskom Customer Mobile Application, please forward all E-mails to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Tips:

  • When many affected customers report the problem, it will naturally receive a higher priority. (Eskom relies on the report/reference of just one complainant, it may seem that the fault is a single customer issue).

  • Eskom clients are therefore encouraged to use the system to report faults and to ask for a reference number.

  • Always include a valid account number, erf/stand number or meter number for effective service delivery.

Following the events of the 19 th August 2021 at which there was an attempt to orchestrate a land invasion close to Mooiuitsig, the BBRA notes the following:

  1. There is frustration within the Mooiuitsig community regarding the perceived imbalance between the demands made by the residents of the informal settlements in Kleinmond and those of the Mooiuitsig residents.
  2. There is evidence to suggest that the administration in the OM Kleinmond Office have contributed to the levels of frustration within the Mooiuitsig community.
  3. There has been some form of political opportunism by opposition political parties according to information provided by Councillor Fanie Krige. Representatives of such parties were seen to be on site during the “land invasion”
  4. There are grievances arising from the community regarding the reluctance of OM to use unemployed Mooiuitsig residents for municipal projects.
  5. The land invasion was well handled and resolved by the OM and cognisance was taken of the issues raised by the Mooiuitsig community.
  6. Following the resolution of the land invasion, there is a list of demands given to OM by the Mooiuitsig community in which they have requested amongst others additional housing and sporting facilities for the youth.
  7. The BBRA has attempted to include a representative of Mooiuitsig onto the committee so that the BBRA could include their issues onto our agenda. This unfortunately has failed as the intimidation factor brought to bear on possible candidates has prevailed.
  8. The Ward Committee, in which BBRA represent the greater Bettys Bay, is the official channel through which communities can influence the municipal budget and unfortunately Mooiuitsig is not adequately represented in this system as mentioned in point 7 above.
  9. In order to ensure that the grievances of this community are heard a concerted effort needs to be made by OM to include them in the formal structures.

Dear All

URGENT

Change of notice regarding vaccinations at Crassula Hall Thursday 15 July

We have just received the very upsetting notification that our supply of vaccines due for release on Thursday 15 July at Crassula Hall has had to be withdrawn. This has occurred due to a failure of an alarm system in the provincial pharmaceutical storage refrigeration facility, which has meant that 312 vials are not fit for use. Despite all efforts, no alternative supply has yet been made available by the province for Overstrand clinics for the rest of this week.

We are very sorry therefore to inform you that the vaccination clinic at Crassula Hall cannot now take place as planned on Thursday the 15th and all bookings will fall away.

We hope to open this vaccination site instead one week later on 22 July.

In the meantime, we hear there are some plans afoot to accommodate walk in vaccinations on the weekends, especially for residents of Mooiuitsig. We shall keep you posted as we learn more details of this, including the location.

TANKER SERVICE REQUEST IN HANGKLIP-KLEINMOND - expected delays 12.07.2021

During the past two weeks, the Hangklip-Kleinmond Administration received 751 and 587 tanker service requests respectively. The average call-out rate is ± 450 per week. The reason is that tanks are not watertight and water ingresses into tanks.

With the prevailing rain, these services are placed under tremendous strain and 4 – 5 day delays are being experienced.

All conservancy tanks should be watertight so that no stormwater or groundwater can ingress into the tank. Notices will be issued to residents where the request for tanker services does not align with the potable water usage of the household.

To request a tanker service, Whatsapp your request to 081 751 0170 or phone Kleinmond Administration on 028 271 8400/8404/8435 or phone Overstrand Control Room 24-hour after-hours number on 028 313 8111.
